While he was working on an Aerial, a studio mishap smashed two of its corners. Jack saw a form waiting inside what was left. He curved the broken corners into a flowing droplet, beveled the top, and one of his most sought after designs came to life.

The Purple TierDrop carries a colored glass plate beneath its core. The purple deepens and shifts with the light around it, reaching into every facet of the piece, so the sculpture never reads the same way twice as you move around it or as the light in the room changes.

Limited edition of 5. This listing is the medium TierDrop, 10 in. W x 12 in. H x 2.7 in. D.

Every Jack Storms sculpture starts at the core. He cuts, grinds, polishes and laminates the glass hundreds of times until the core is exactly what he set out to make, often following the Fibonacci sequence through the design. The core is then encased in optical crystal and sculpted to its final shape by hand on a cold working lathe. No heat is used at any point. Each sculpture takes six to twenty four weeks to complete and every piece is an original work of fine art. Materials: 32 percent optical lead crystal, optical crystal and dichroic glass.

Ships in a custom form fitted foam case designed by Jack Storms.

Jack Storms
Medium: 10 in.
