Bloodshot Eye
In order to explore the world of color, Jack Storms decided to take his very first piece, the Optic Eye, and add Rose/Green colored glass to the core of the sculpture. The Optic Eye and the Bloodshot Eye may be the same shape but they offer two very different visual experiences. Within the Bloodshot Eye there is a warmness or fire that radiates from the natural characteristics of the core and as with all of Jacks sculptures, the form can be manipulated if placed in different types of lighting.
Each one of Jack Storms cold glass sculptures starts at the core, the artist cuts, grinds, polishes and laminates together the glass literally hundreds of times until he can get the core design he is looking for. Jack is known for using the theory of Fibonacci as reference for all of his glass designs. He then encases the core into optical crystal and hand sculpts each piece to shape. Each one of his glass sculptures takes from six to twenty four weeks to create and all of his pieces are original pieces of fine art. All of Jack Storms glass sculptures are done cold. There is no heat involved in the process whatsoever. The materials used on each one of Jack Storms’ glass sculptures are 32% optical lead crystal, optical crystal and dichroic glass.
